Ever wake up one day and decide "That's it. I'm getting into shape, come hell or high water"?
Me either. I'm the bitch that used to joke "I don't run unless I'm being chased!" when my friends would tell me about the 5K, 1/2 or even full marathons they'd entered. I bought workout DVDs, and didn't remove the plastic. I bought new shoes, an Ipod, and a really cute running outfit to run a 5K last summer, ran literally 17 times until race day, and never ran again. I'm not overweight. I've been blessed with a fairly good metabolism (which I abuse like a MOFO) and have been using the "I've got 2 kids" excuse for 4 years now.
For me, it was a combination of lots of things. My impending 30th birthday. A family destination wedding to Jamaica. The fact that the USA is in the middle of a childhood obesity epidemic. The reflection in the mirror, compared to what I looked like 5 short years ago. But a lot of the motivation to be active and get in shape have to come from sitting on my butt, reading blogs on my computer.
For two years I've lived vicariously through amazing bloggers like Linda or Kristin, wishing I could look like they did and more importantly, feel like they do about the impact of exercise on their overall well-being. Linda's got two little boys, Kristin is a single mom. Both are amazing writers, and have successfully been that last puzzle piece to get my lazy butt moving. And hopefully in the process I morph from "Hey Mommy" to "Hot Mama"
